OSIsoft - Academic Program

OSIsoft is a data management platform that utilizes the PI System to record, transform, and deliver data in real time. The academic program helps establish the PI System across universities to improve data analytics and drive research. As an intern, I spearheaded product installation of the PI System for our client's Lithium-Ion battery collection at the Jess E. Jackson Sustainable Winery.

Actionables

Data Preprocessing

  • Configured .csv outputs from matlab into .ini files to be interpreted by PI system.
  • Established an understanding on how CA ISO and the battery collection generates data and how to read them into PI.
  • Worked with clientele to create live feeds of data for real-time updates within PI.

Back-End

  • Used PI Data Archive and .ini files to configure 1000+ PI points for the given process variables.
  • Used PI Assisted Framework to construct a structural hierarchy database modelling battery collection structure. Created a template for each asset to streamline data integration across 100+ units.
  • Established 100+ notifications and analyses for real-time system alerts and computations respectively.

Front-End

  • Used PI Vision to create a visual interface for client to view and manage data within PI.
  • Visual Interface consisted of a main portal with sub-pages following the battery collection structure.
  • Configured phone services so client recieved real-time text alerts for system notifications, warnings, and errors that exceeded defined parameters.

Consultation

  • Hosted kickoff meeting with client to determine how our product can best address their needs.
  • Alongside weekly meetings, established a direct line of communication for client questions and feedback as the project progressed.
  • Provided on-site trainings to teach clientele how to navigate the software, view data, and implement changes.
