Actionables

Process Modelling

  • Acquired a fundamental understanding of the process overview, feed conditions, reaction specifications, and unit functionality.
  • Learned Aveva Pro/II, a process modelling software, by utilizing existing documentation and colleague advice to achieve work proficiency swiftly.
  • Created a mock simulation of the process flow for my assigned project.

Data Analysis & Verification

  • Imported 7 design cases containing 90+ process variables from model into COMOS, a database management program, verifying the import accuracy within 0.01%.
  • Performed mass and energy balances across 16 design cases to ensure data correctness.
  • Determined the limiting case for asigned process units across 16 design cases.

Process Designing

  • Generated corrosion reports across 16 design cases to determine the material properties for pipe and unit design.
  • Conducted a pump system mark-up accounting for pressure drop, line losses, and inlet/outlet stream elevation for various units.
  • Designed and sized 12 process units to maximize yield while minimizing energy consumption. Provided installation instructions for client use.

Document Revision

  • Revised 5 outdated operating procedures to simplify for newcomers that reflected present-day methodology.
  • Created visual aids to accompany instructional documentation to augment clarity upon use.
  • Wrote new document on how to use new column-design feature after seeing coworkers struggle with the interface.
